Get hired, stay hired — built for PTTI graduates
Resume help, interview prep, certification renewals, and real wage data for every trade we staff. Keep your profile sharp and your credentials current.
Resume tips for the trades
- Lead with your trade and certifications — "PTTI-trained Welder, AWS D1.1, OSHA 10" is the first line employers scan for.
- List the tools and equipment you already run (MIG/TIG rigs, panel testers, trowel machines, diagnostic scanners). It saves employers a training question.
- Show availability clearly: days, nights, weekends, immediate start. Availability wins as many placements as skills.
- Keep it to one page. Crews hire on proof you can show up and produce — not on essay-length histories.
- Use numbers where you can: crew sizes supported, units per shift, years of shop time, projects completed at PTTI.
Your PhillyTradeExperts profile is your trade resume — keep every section filled and add your photo so coordinators can place you faster.
Interview prep checklist
- Show up 10 minutes early with your certifications, photo ID, and a pen — treat it like day one of the job.
- Bring photos of your best work if you have them (weld coupons, finished drywall, panel builds). Proof beats talk.
- Answer with the STAR pattern: the Situation, the Task, the Action you took, the Result.
- Be honest about what you have not done yet — and pair it with what you learned at PTTI that gets you there fast.
- Ask about the crew, the schedule, and what a successful first week looks like. It shows you plan to stay.
Certification renewals
Track these on your dashboard — we flag anything expiring within 60 days. Official renewal links below.
OSHA 10 / OSHA 30
DOL cards never expire, but many contractors expect a refresher every 3–5 years. Lost card? Order a replacement through your training provider.
osha.gov/trainingEPA 608 (refrigerant)
Universal certification does not expire. Replacements for lost cards go through the EPA or your test administrator.
epa.gov/section608AWS welder certification
Weld certifications run on "continuity" — keeping active in the process or re-testing keeps the stamp current. Talk to your employer or a local AWS test facility.
aws.org/certificationCRCST (sterile processing)
Renews annually with HSPA — 12 continuing-education credits per cycle keep the credential active.
myhspa.org/certificationASE (automotive)
Certifications renew on a 5-year cycle. Recertification tests are shorter than the originals.
ase.comBLS / CPR
Renews every 2 years through the AHA or Red Cross — a short refresher course.
